Today more outdoor shots of that long blooming flower, a white-yellowish flower, a Treasury flower - Gazania rigens shot in reflected ultraviolet photography, simulated bee and butterfly vision. All shots were done at f8 in reflected ultraviolet photography using my "work horse" UV filter, the Baader-U filter, as well as my XBV filters for simulated bee and butterfly vision. Lens was a UV-Nikkor 105mm quartz fluorite lens. Light source was sunlight.

This Gazania's outer petals strongly reflect UV around 365nm, whereas the inner petal parts are quite darker, hence forming UV nectar guides for UV seeing insects. There are also some highly UV reflecting marks inside around a dark UV center, all invisible to us humans, but clearly visible to bees and butterflies, and all this gets nicely visible here, also in simulated bee and butterfly vision.

Today more shots of a long blooming, perennial spring flower Cliff maids - Lewisia cotyledon in reflected ultraviolet photography and simulated bee and butterfly vision. All shots were done at f8 in reflected ultraviolet photography using my "work horse" UV filter, the Baader-U filter, as well as my XBV filters for simulated bee and butterfly vision. All shots were done at f8 in reflected ultraviolet photography using my "work horse" UV filter, the Baader-U filter, as well as my XBV filters for simulated bee and butterfly vision. Lens was a UV-Nikkor 105mm quartz fluorite lens. Light source was sunlight and some assistance from a Nichia 365nm UV LED .

WDR 2 "Bienen live" - "Bees live" program with simulated bee vision video/images
Today about a program developed and aired by German TV and radio station WDR 2 streaming the life of three bee hives to the public and especially to kids, named "Bienen live" ("bees live").
In there will be some of my human and simulated bee vision images / videos in it to demonstrate how different bees see the world, able to see patterns which only exist in ultraviolet (UV) light, invisible for us humans.

All these shown flowers have a distinct UV reflection "bulls eye" pattern, its petals have a quite UV dark center (visible as green in simulated bee vision) and the outside part is quite UV bright around 365nm (visible as bright yellow in sim. bee vision). All this gets nicely visible in the photographs as well as in the HDTV videos.
